Our approach to this project took a less formal or programmatic avenue and allowed the design to emerge from a psychological angle. We noticed that many of these victims of crime might be suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and any sudden direct stimuli the memorial can provide might be cause for agitation and discomfort. To address this issue, we saw our design to be a series of interlocking spaces, which gradually trigger the memories of the crime incident as they go along.
