The project brief was quite loose in terms of what is needed for the Urban Renewal project for Taksim square, so it was up to RiadArchitecture to figure out what was working and what wasn’t. The design team noticed that many aspects of the Henri Proust design had been neglected, and sought to strengthen the design ideas and strategies that have been placed over the last one hundred years. The proposed designed called for the strengthening of the axis of the park with its surroundings, creating nodes at the intersection of pedestrian axis points, and main architectural feature and the terminus of such axis.
